Head Trainer Peter Kent started his journey when he sought out training for Muay Thai. With the scarcity of Muay Thai in Australia, it led Peter to visit Thailand to gain a better understanding of the sport, coming back with the idea of establishing Matrix Gym.
Since then, we’ve trained world class fighters including Frank Giorgi and Nathan Corbett who secured his first world title in 2003. More trips between Thailand and Australia meant that Matrix fighters could learn as much as they could and bring back the knowledge, and continue to grow in skill.
Fast forward to 2015, Matrix Gym introduced Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA programs.
For nearly 30 years, we’ve established ourselves as a leading Boxing and Muay Thai gym on the Gold Coast, and have produced some of the best Australian Muay Thai fighters. Come and see what we’re all about and try us out.

Boxing is a full-body workout that builds strength, coordination, and endurance. Here’s why boxing is perfect for improving fitness:
Boxing engages your entire body, helping improve strength, flexibility, and coordination.
As you master new techniques and skills, you’ll gain confidence both in and out of the gym.
Boxing teaches real-world self-defense, boosting your security and peace of mind.
Boxing is a high-intensity cardio workout that helps burn fat and build stamina.
Matrix Gym is more than just a place to train—it’s a supportive community where everyone encourages each other to succeed.
Each class begins with light cardio, mobility drills, and stretching to prepare your body and prevent injuries.
You’ll focus on basic techniques such as jabs, crosses, hooks, and footwork. Building a solid foundation is key to becoming a skilled boxer.
Partner drills, pad work, or shadowboxing will help you apply what you’ve learned in a controlled environment.
Boxing-specific exercises improve your stamina, explosive power, and overall fitness.
Stretching and relaxation techniques to reduce soreness and prevent injury.
